Mona and Sam Morebello are an important part of the history of Rady Children's. As a San Diego native, raised in Point Loma, Mona had many friends in the La Playa Unit of Rady Children's Hospital Auxiliary, and she attended many events. When she retired in 1996, Mona became an active member of the unit and continues to be very interested in fundraising.
Both Sam and Mona taught in the San Diego Unified School District for more than 30 years and were frequent visitors to the hospital visiting sick and injured students.
Seeing the hospital grow and change has given the Morebellos a special perspective on what philanthropy really means to the community. "Our 15-year participation in Celebration of Champions, embracing the hugs and tears of so many children and their families living through cancer care, is living proof of the power of giving to others," says Mona. "Each year, our lives change when we see so many kids in recovery. Knowing that the demand for their care in the future will continue to grow, we rest knowing that we will make a difference." That's what including Rady Children's in your estate is really all about.
"Many people believe that you have to be wealthy to make a difference," says Sam. We have seen the power of many smaller contributions becoming noteworthy! We appreciate the many opportunities Legacy Circle offers: private tours, receptions, social activities, friendship and a chance to meet so many of the outstanding staff members."
"We give to Rady Children's because our lives have been so blessed by the love and generosity of those that went before us."
