A Life Remembered, a Legacy Ensured

A Brave Soldier Leaves Quiet But Powerful LegacyBernice Fingerman never met her stepson, Peter David; he passed away at the age of 15, decades before she met and married his father, Harry. But Bernice has always been profoundly touched by Harry's love for Peter, who developed cerebral palsy at a young age. She still celebrates the date of his birth and death each year. Bernice owned businesses in the Yuma, Arizona, area while raising two daughters and a son of her own. When she moved to San Diego in 1983, she found "the love of her life," Harry Fingerman. They were married for more than 12 years before his passing in 1999.

When Bernice learned about Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego's Cerebral Palsy Program, she knew it was something Harry would have wanted to support. "He would have wanted to help other children like Peter," she says. It was with this thought that Bernice became a Rady Children's Legacy Circle member, by remembering Rady Children's in her will.

At the time of Bernice's death, Rady Children's will receive a gift that honors the son that both she and Harry loved. Bernice's thoughtful generosity will touch the lives of children and families for generations to come, creating a lasting legacy of love.
